About Us
Abigail and Noah Jackson are siblings originally from Western Massachusetts. At an early age, Abby and Noah were acutely aware of Functional Somatic Syndromes and the toll they could take on people's lives. Their mother, Joanne, is a long-term sufferer of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Fibromyalgia, Interstitial Cystitis (IC), and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME). As Abigail and Noah reached early adulthood they found themselves plagued by similar ailments and faced many difficulties getting diagnoses and treatments from healthcare professionals, as is often the case in patients with Functional Somatic Syndromes. Hence, the idea for FunctionaliTea was born! When conventional health care failed, and the thought of continuing to suffer from chronic symptoms seemed impermissible, Abby and Noah turned to herbal tea as a way to fill in some of the gaps left by western medicine. Abby and Noah strongly believe in the healing properties of herbal medicine, as their great grandmother was a skilled Lithuanian herbalist who would treat a wide range of viral illnesses and even help birth babies with her herbal knowledge. After thoroughly researching the available scholarship on different herbs and their properties, Abigail and Noah began creating their custom herbal blends for FunctionaliTea, aimed to alleviate specific symptoms of functional disorders. Although the teas are not a miracle cure-all, it is Abby and Noah's hope that people will be able to get the same benefits from the teas that they have gotten such as alleviating symptoms, feeling long-term improvement, and ingesting more healthy, phytochemical-rich herbs! FunctinaliTea's mission, as the name suggests, is to get people functional, meaning less debilitated by their chronic symptoms and back to their daily lives!
